Liverpool and Leeds hero Dominic Matteo posts positive update on brain tumour


Dominic Matteo says his latest scan was clear after battling a brain tumour. The former Liverpool and Leeds star underwent surgery in November.

Matteo was placed in intensive care at Leeds General Infirmary as he battled a brain tumour.

And Matteo, 45, has given a positive update on his health, revealing he’s got the all clear.

He tweeted: “Yesterday I got THE phone call, the one I’ve been praying for… my brain scan is clear.

“After 6 months of fear pain rehab surgery and treatment. I’m healthy! It feels unreal!

“The LGI &St James hospital saved my life.

“They were simply incredible. Thankyou will never be enough!”

Matteo started his career with Liverpool, with the former defender going on to make 155 appearances for the Reds.

He went on to become a fan favourite at Leeds.

Matteo netted the goal against Milan that secured Leeds a place in the Champions League knockout stages in the 2000-2001 season.
