Little Mix: The Search: When the new talent show starts on BBC One, who the host is and how it works

A new talent show by girl band Little Mix will be starting on BBC One this month.

The four-piece group was first put together by the judges on The X Factor in 2011 and has gone on to become one of the world’s most successful girl-bands.

Now they have reversed the roles and will be in the judges’ seats, auditioning hopefuls to form a new band.

Here’s everything you need to know about the show Little Mix: The Search.

When does it start?

Little Mix: The Search begins on Saturday 26th September on BBC One.

The next episode airs at 6.45pm on Sunday 27 September.

Episodes will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer after broadcast.

There are expected to be seven episodes overall.

What is it all about?

Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock of Little Mix are on the hunt for talented individuals to form a new band.

This is the same way Little Mix were formed when they first appeared on The X Factor.

A trailer for The Search showed clips of Little Mix performing and said: “We’re looking for a new band to support us on tour.”

It also listed different types of groups, suggesting a variety of different styles will be seen on the show.

“Boy band, girl dance, instruments, rap R&B, girl vocal,” a list on the trailer said.

How will it work?

Little Mix will now be the judges of the shows.

A promotional video for the show sees the band sitting on a pink sofa as a variety of acts perform, showing off their vocals.

They discuss the acts’ performances and offer them advice, occasionally bickering amongst themselves when they disagree on an act.

“It’s so much harder for us to judge than like the usual judges on these shows because we know what they’re going through,” the girls said.

Little Mix will then put together the successful performers into several new bands, in pre-recorded audition episodes.

The singers who make it into new bands will live together and gain access to Little Mix’s vocal coaches, songwriters and producers, to see which band has what it takes to be the overall winner.

“We can’t wait for everyone to finally see what we’ve been working on because it’s so good! This show is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time,” Perrie said.

Who will host the show?

The series will be hosted by Chris Ramsey, a comedian who has appeared on multiple panel shows, also competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019.

He also presents a humorous podcast with his wife Rosie about married life called Sh**ged Married Annoyed, and the pair have now released a book with the same title.
