On the stage’s screens it shows footage of Piers demanding an apology from Little Mix after their body shaming row in November last year.

In it, Piers, 54, says: “Little Mix I think you need to make a public apology. If you’ve got the balls, come on this programme and say it to my face.”

They then remix “face” before opening their song Wasabi with the phrase: “Come and say it to my face.”

The crowd goes wild in response to the big dig at the former editor.

The row started when Morgan took issue with a promotional image for their single Strip on their latest album LM5.

The photo shows Jesy Nelson, 28, Perrie Edwards, 25, Jade Thirwall, 1992, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 27, naked, in black and white, with insults written on their bodies.

It ties into the song’s message about the insults directed at the band over the years and the strength of overcoming the negativity.

But Piers reacted by saying on GMB: “If men do that they’re arrested, if women do that, it’s empowering. Very, very empowering.

“Their stripping off to sell albums. Let’s just call it what it is. It’s not about feminist empowerment, it’s about ‘Let’s all get naked, everyone will run the pictures, we’ll sell more records’. That’s it. The rest of it is baloney.”

He added: “They don’t have any flaws, they’ve all been airbrushed, they look perfect. There are no flaws.”

Also, Morgan took to social media and said: “Here’s a great idea, girls – if you want to really empower yourselves, get naked and put the word slut all over your body.”

He then accused the girls of stealing the idea from a similar photoshoot with the Dixie Chicks.

In a bizarre twist, Ariana Grande’s mother Joan got involved, saying to Piers: “Didn’t your mother ever teach you, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say!”

Piers replied: “My mother taught me to speak my mind & never be afraid to express honestly held opinion.

“I’d just prefer they use their talent to sell records rather than their nudity. As your own daughter does…!”

Ari then jumped to the band’s defence, saying: “I use my talent AND my sexuality all the time because i choose to. women can be sexual AND talented. naked and dignified.

“It’s OUR choice. & we will keep fighting til people understand. i say this w all due respect but thank u, next.

“Also @piersmorgan, i look forward to the day you realize there are other ways to go about making yourself relevant than to criticize young, beautiful, successful women for everything they do.

“I think that’ll be a beautiful thing for you and your career or what’s left of it.”

Jesy Nelson then called him a “silly t***” on Radio 1’s afternoon show with Nick Grimshaw.

This is what prompted Piers to demand an apology in the footage shown on stage.
