Little boy plays a trick on his mum after she ‘forgets to feed’ the elf on the shelf

PART of the fun of the Elf on the Shelf is how it allows parents to prank their children for a change – and you know, also keep them on their best behaviour before Christmas.

That said, one little boy has turned the tables on his mum by pretending she accidentally killed their household elf by forgetting to feed him – and it’s absolutely adorable.

Dan Melia, from Baldoyle, Ireland, posted a video of his son holding a skeleton toy which he claimed was their elf who had – rather morbidly – staved to death in their home.

The 15-second clip opens with Dan’s young son trying his very best to cry over the toy before flashing his dad a cheeky smile.

Trying his best to “comfort” his son, Dan asks: “Did mummy kill the Elf on the Shelf? Did she forget to feed him?”

The adorable little boy then replies “yes” and sticks his bottom lip out for maximum effect.

Dan continued: “That’s so mean and we were so looking forward to having Christmas with the Elf on the Shelf – weren’t we? That’s so sad.”

Sharing the short clip on Facebook, the dad joked: “Playing a trick on mam that she forgot to feed the Elf on the Shelf. Clearly pretending to cry. Not an Oscar winning performance.”

Since he posted it last week, Dan’s video has racked up over one million views online and 43,000 shares.

While one user wrote “OMG stop I’m howling”, another of Dan’s friends added: “We are in stitches.”

In more parenting news, this grandma created an amazing dollhouse for her granddaughter for £80 using storage boxes and napkins.

And this mum made an incredible flashing Christmas snowman decoration for her kids for just £10 using plastic cups.

Plus someone has created a “birthing selfie stick” for the ultimate Christmas present prank.
