Lisa Vanderpump says she thinking Jax Taylor‘s ‘bad behavior’ was the reason for his split with Brittany Cartwright after four years of marriage.
The 63-year-old Bravo star, citing numerous infidelity scandals that played out on her Bravo series Vanderpump Rules, said that while she wasn’t sure of the cause, she had her suspicions. (He has denied cheating was the cause of the split.)
‘I don’t know what the reason was, but I imagine it was probably something to do with Jax’s bad behavior,’ Vanderpump told E! News on Monday. ‘I’m not sure, but the indicator of future behavior is normally past behavior.’
Vanderpump chat with the outlet at the Vanderpump Villa premiere event, ahead of the show’s April 1 debut on Hulu, about the recent split of her one-time employees.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum said that people were initially skeptical of the chances between Taylor and Cartwright, an aspect which she could empathize with.

Vanderpump said, ‘Everybody predicted that when they got married: They said, “Oh this won’t last long,” but I kind of never liked to draw conclusions.’
The Vanderpump Rules impresario looked back on the naysayers at the time she wed her spouse Ken Todd in 1982.
‘I know a lot of people say it’s inevitable, but when I walked down the aisle 42 years ago everybody shook their head and said, “This would never last,”‘ the English socialite said. ‘Ken being a bad boy in London and 16 years older than me. You go into it totally optimistic.’
The reality star said that she felt the news of the Taylor-Cartwright split was ‘a shame when they have a child,’ in reference to their son Cruz, two.
‘Marriage isn’t easy and there’s always so many options in Hollywood and excuses and their egos involved,’ Vanderpump said. ‘I think nearly everybody I know that was married on reality television has separated, except Ken and I.’
Cartwright, 35, earlier this month removed her married last name from her Instagram profile following her split from Taylor.
Cartwright had her name listed as Brittany Cartwright Cauchi as of March 2 until she dropped her now-estranged husband’s name sometime on March 3.
On February 29, Cartwright and the 44-year-old reality star — whose full birth name is Jason Michael Cauchi — announced their separation after four years of marriage.
The pair have been together for nearly a decade since they started dating in 2015 and share one child together. They tied the knot in 2019 and welcomed their son Cruz, now three, a couple years later in 2021; seen in May 2023
Earlier this month, Taylor had claimed they are still living under the same roof around the same time Cartwright revealed she would be giving him another chance; seen in March 2023

Their marital woes came to light after Cartwright and Taylor announced they were separating Feburary 29. Cartwright confirmed the shocking news on a recent episode of their joint podcast When Reality Hits.
‘Jax and I are taking time apart and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health,’ she said. ‘I won’t get into too many details right now because this is still really hard to talk about.’
She explained that her main priority is her son and insisted they will be ‘just fine,’ adding, ‘I am taking things one day at a time … I don’t know what the future holds, but right now my focus is on being the best mom to Cruz. I love you guys and pray for us. Everything will be just fine.’
Later that same day, Taylor claimed that they were not living in separate places and Cartwright had returned home.
‘We’re together,’ he told Page Six at the time. ‘We’re living in our home right now.’
He did not reveal the reason for their rift but explained that there was ‘not evil or nastiness.
‘It’s just two people that you know are hitting a 10-year mark in their marriage. We’re just spending some time apart and just trying to reassess, you know, our situation. We have a child involved, and we just wanna do what’s best for our kid.’

Since then, Cartwright has not confirmed if she has returned to their marital home but did say that they were working their marriage.
‘I think that me moving out and taking space to figure out if this is what I want is like the best situation for me right now,’ she told TMZ one day after the it was reported they were separated.
‘I’ve asked him for a while to do certain things and nothing has come from that yet, so you know, hopefully,’ she continued. ‘Listen, I love Jax so much. I really do, and I want the best for me and my son at this point.’
