Liam Payne thinks One Direction will reunite after two years

Liam Payne has said he thinks One Direction could reunite after two years, during which time the former boyband members are all releasing music from their respective solo projects.

Payne, who just released his debut solo LP1 to mixed or negative reviews, appeared on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch where he spoke about fan hopes for a reunion.

“I think at some point we will get back together,” he said. “I think we will, for sure. I don’t know when that is yet but, all I know is there is at least two years while everyone’s just released new music where you have to go and promo and do all of that.

“There are at least two years,” he repeated.

Payne revealed he saw former bandmate Harry Styles at the Jingle Bell Ball over the weekend, which took place at the O2 Arena in London.

“I actually saw him for the first time in three years yesterday,” he said. “We hadn’t seen each other in a long, long time. It was really nice, he’s still the same boy as when I left him, really sweet… he’s such a lovely lad.”

Styles’ second solo album Fine Line is out on Friday 13 December, while Louis Tomlinson is releasing his debut Walls on 31 January 2020. Niall Horan, who released his debut solo record Flicker in 2017, is also expected to release a new album next year.

Zayn Malik, who left the band before they went on hiatus in 2015, released his second solo album Icarus Falls last year.
