Liam Gallagher reveals secret behind cryptic Noel Gallagher Oasis move

Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher pulled the plug on their Britpop-defining band Oasis in 2009 amid vicious feuding. The tension between the brothers has continued to this day but the group’s legacy also remains. Casting back to 1995, when Oasis were arguably at the height of their popularity, they appeared on the iconic Top of the Pops.

The BBC music show was famous for its lip synced performances and Oasis’ was no different.

For their performance of Roll With It, however, Liam and Noel decided to mess with fans.

For the appearance, Liam picked up the guitar while Noel took charge of miming lead vocals while waving his brother’s tambourine, the pair trading places.

The switch was noted at the time, with banners appearing on screen which read: “If you’re sitting at home thinking to yourself… there’s something not quite right about this performance then you’re absolutely right.”

“As usual Liam sings lead vocals on the record, but for this performance, Noel pretends to take lead vocals while Liam pretends to play Noel’s guitar part.

“Those Gallagher boys are always such a laugh!”

Engaging as he often does with fans on Twitter yesterday, Liam revealed what happened behind-the-scenes to lead to the cheeky switch.

“Whose idea was it to swap places with Noel when you did Roll With It on TOTOP, Liam?” an Oasis fan asked.

“Still not enough for the greedy soul,” he told his 3.2 million Twitter followers.

He also said Noel had called him “begging” to make a reunion happen in 2022.

But Noel was having none of it, dismissing his brother’s claims via TalkSport.

“Re ‘The Reunion’,” he said. “Sadly I think the other fella must have been on the leftover Christmas Babycham.

“For the record, until anyone hears it from ME, it’s not happening.”

In recent weeks, the brothers have been jibing at each other on social media, with Noel taking aim at Liam’s new solo material.

“Silence is golden… and just in case you weren’t already aware someone still has a new single out,” he told his own 1.2 million Twitter followers. “I believe it’s called Once which is the exact amount of times it should be played.

“It’s still available in all good record shops but mostly in the s**t ones,” he added.

When one Oasis fan noted it was “funny” that Noel was “piping up” on social media, Liam chipped in: “He’s snookered nowhere to run nowhere to hide.

“The people have his number f***ed it,” he quipped.
