Lewis Capaldi says war with Noel Gallagher 'is over' as he picks up best track prize at Q Awards

Lewis Capaldi has opened up about his ongoing war of words with Noel Gallagher , revealing the Oasis legend secretly praised him behind the scenes.

Chatting at the 2019 Q Awards, Lewis insisted their public clash wasn’t as hostile as many fans believed, reports the Daily Star.

After picking up the best track prize at the awards for Someone You Loved, the singer-songwriter said: “It is over. People thought it was a lot more serious than it actually was.

“I think Noel was saying some very hilarious stuff and I was finding it very funny.

“I didn’t send any actual animosity from his side either. It’s totally cool.”

Lewis Capaldi and Noel Gallagher were involved in a well-documented celeb feud

No stranger to a celebrity feud, Noel, who sparked outrage by likening Scotland to “a third world country”, cruelly said Lewis resembled Star Wars character Chewbacca earlier this summer.

In retaliation, Lewis performed in a T-shirt plastered with Noel’s face inside a love heart.

Insisting the clash was tongue-in-cheek, the chart-topper continued: “He’s not slipped into the DMs but to be honest I understand it.

“He doesn’t have a vendetta against me.

“He is all good. He’s sweet. He is a lovely lad.”

Revealing how they bumped into each other on the festival circuit, Lewis added: “I met him in Madrid when we did a festival and he was lovely.

“He said to me ‘keep up the good work’ ,which I though was a bit sarcastic, but other than that, love him.”

Lewis is one of the biggest stars to come out of the UK in recent years.

His debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent topped the charts and spawned a series of hit singles including Grace and Hold Me While You Wait.
