Lemar is leading an all-star night of entertainment raising money for HIV charity NAZ.

The Brit Award winning artist, who recently appeared on Dancing on Ice, is the headline performer at This Is What We’re Fighting For, a soulful celebration paying tribute to cultural figures who lost their lives in the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Through a mixture of dance, spoken word, comedy and music, the performers at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire event will pay tribute to the likes of Queen’s Freddie Mercury, musician and poet Gil Scot Heron, dancer Alvin Ailey and activist Prudence Nobantu Mabele.

‘When the AIDS crisis swept through our communities, it took with it a generation’s worth of talent,’ the charity explained.

‘The lives of dancers, musicians, sports stars and activists were cut short, and that loss reverberated through lives, past and present, that would be forever shaped by those losses.’

Shazia Mirza, Fernando Montaño and even The Chase’s very own Dark Destroyer Shaun Wallace will be joining former Fame Academy star Lemar on the line up.

‘Looking forward to this,’ Lemar wrote on Instagram.

‘An event in celebration of BAME cultural icons lost to HIV #endstigmaendhiv’

100% of profits from the This Is What We’re Fighting For concert will go towards NAZ, a charity which works to support BAME people in the UK living with HIV.

This Is What We’re Fighting For takes place Sunday 8 September at Shepherd’s Bush Empire. Doors at 18.30, tickets available here: https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/event/1F00570DAE2330EC.
