This weekend, Kylie Minogue will take the stage at Glastonbury Festival and she’s spoken out on her feelings about performing 14 years after she had to pull out due to breast cancer.

Kylie was due to headline the Pyramid stage in 2005, but had to cancel after she was diagnosed with cancer so she was able to start treatment.

She told the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show that she was feeling all kinds of emotions at being asked back to perform.

Kylie admitted: ‘I still can’t get over it. From the moment the words were uttered, I think I’ve been in shock, delight, surprise, anxiety…

‘Obviously, it’s emotional because of my history… The road to Glastonbury has been long and winding with some unexpected bumps, speed bumps!

‘But it’s a big singalong, that’s what I’m hoping for, just a big love fest. There may be a couple of surprises.’

Kylie also told The Mirror that she was devastated to have to cancel her 2005 headline slot: ‘I would have been one of the only female solo artists in the festival’s history to headline.

‘I really thought I missed my opportunity and, as the years went by, I said to myself, “Well this just isn’t going to happen”.

‘My memory’s so strong of so much around that time and while my focus had moved on from Glastonbury, I was watching and going, “I’m meant to be there”.

‘It would have been pretty mega at the time to headline – the next woman to do it was Beyonce.’

She added that although taking that same stage all these years later will be emotional, she feels like she’s even more ready to do it than she was in 2005.

She explained: ‘Yes, it’s going to be emotional, but I try to remind myself… it’s a celebration. I’m not trying to do anything new. Me, the crowd and 31 or 32 years of history together.

‘Perhaps I wasn’t ready anyway [in 2005]. I feel I’ve grown so much and have a lot more to offer.’
