Kris Boyson has candidly discussed his decade long battle with depression and anxiety.

The fitness trainer, 32, who first revealed his mental health struggles in an emotional Instagram post last week, has detailed the extent of his demons, admitting that at his lowest he attempted to ‘run in front of an oncoming car’.

Explaining that his parents forced an intervention by getting him into exercise, Kris also revealed that his dad now ‘asks him every single day how he’s coping’ because of his new life in the spotlight with girlfriend Katie Price, 20.

Taking to Instagram last week, Kris first made the admission that depression and anxiety had caused him to quit his job ten years ago, and urged his followers to speak to someone if they were afraid.

And in an honest chat with New! magazine, Kris further detailed his plight, confessing: ‘I was in a nightmare. The only thing I could do to get out of the nightmare – and I’ve only ever told my parents and a couple of close friends this – was run into the road into an oncoming car.

‘That was rock bottom. I thought it would end the pain. Thankfully my cousin intervened to stop me. I wasn’t thinking about suicide, I just didn’t want to feel how I felt any more. I wanted the pain to stop,’ he revealed.

Kris thanked his parents for ‘saving him’ as they sent him to a retreat for weight loss where he discovered he was ‘able to function and succeed’.

However, his parents concerns sprung into action once again following Kris’ emergence into the public eye thanks to his tumultuous romance with troubled star, Katie.

However, while admitting he has been ‘painted as a villain by trolls’, Kris explained that Katie has helped him deal with his mental health woes as it’s something she goes through herself.

‘Don’t think she’s as hard as she appears to be. People think she’s tough as nails and she plays up to that because it’s her coping mechanism. If she shows any weakness she’ll get eaten alive,’ he stated.

The pair have had a tumultuous relationship with Kris announcing on Instagram in September that they had split up, but after a rocky start proved to be back together late last year.

Recently, the fitness fanatic fuelled engagement rumours with the former glamour model, with a source telling The Sun: ‘Kris told all of Katie’s friends that he’s really serious about marrying her.’

However, Katie, who is still legally married to third husband Kieran Hayler, previously told her beau that if the proposal wasn’t filmed for her reality show, then she’d say no.

A source continued: ‘Katie loves to get things filmed so she can watch them back – and of course, it’ll make great telly.’

Kris previously revealed marriage and more kids are ‘100% on the cards’ with the mother of five.
