She revealed her surprise pregnancy news at the end of her music video Never Worn White, which debuted on Wednesday night.
And in Thursday, Katy Perry, who is engaged to Orlando Bloom, revealed that her pregnancy ‘wasn’t an accident,’ in her interview with Mikey Piff on SiriusXM Hits 1.
The singer, 35, said she and the actor, 43, are ‘both looking forward to this new interval of life.’

She explained: ‘I’m so grateful for everything that I have been able to do and achieve and all the goals I’ve been able to check off my list of dreams and the life I’ve lived thus far.’
Adding: ‘I think I have just been trying to create this space in my own life where I’m not running myself too ragged and creating space for something new to happen like this.’
Katy said: ‘I think we were both looking forward to this new interval of life and sharing this, so that’s kind of how it happens.’
The Never Really Over star also revealed how her mom found out about the pregnancy news.

She said she put the news on a bottle of wine label to tell friends and family.
She was trying to decide between either ‘bring a bottle of wine with a bespoke label that said it – you’d have to read the label to know. I would bring it to a dinner or something, or give it as a gift to a friend, like here’s a nice bottle of wine, and then they would get the reaction later.’
However, her mom came over ‘and was looking at my wine, which she never does and she’s like what is this!! And that’s how it happened. I was like well you ruined the surprise but I guess mom’s have intuition unlike any other. ‘

Katy said that ‘nobody really of anything because I’ve always been hungry and I’ve never like crunches so they just thought I was curvy and hungry and yes, I am curvy and hungry.’
The pop star said when asked if the baby loves her music: ‘Let’s just say there are a lot of songs that I’ve been working on. I’m excited to start sharing those with the world very soon.’
On why Never Worn White was chosen as the baby news reveal song: ‘This song is not like the lead single off of my next record, but honestly I was getting way to fat to hide it so I was like, well I think this song will be a great reveal, let’s start there.’
She said: ‘That’s how I communicate things, I communicate through music, so I think what better way to do that.’
The child will be Katy and Orlando’s first together, but the actor is already a father to son Flynn, nine, who he raises with supermodel ex-wife Miranda Kerr, 36.
Katy had written on Twitter just minutes after the world premiere as she wrote: ‘omg so glad I don’t have to suck it in anymore, or carry around a big purse lol.’

Nearly an hour after the video’s premiere, the musician took to her Instagram to speak exclusively on her pregnancy announcement.
In the short livestream, Katy revealed her child with Orlando would be born sometime in the summer months.
‘There’s a lot that’s happening this summer. Not only will I be giving birth, literally, and figuratively… to something you guys have been waiting for,’ she said.
When asked about her feelings on becoming a mother, Perry expressed eagerness, as well as overwhelming relief in finally being able to share her news with the world.
She said: ‘I’m excited, we’re excited, and happy. It’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep. I thought I would tell you guys in the best way through a piece of music.’
