Kate Garraway got emotional as she revealed that her husband Derek Draper watched her on TV from hospital, after visiting him last week.
The mum-of-two spoke about the moment Derek, who has woken from his coma, watched her on telly for the first time since his battle began.
Her husband is still having a “tough” time in hospital after being struck down with coronavirus in March.
Doctors warned Kate that Derek may never recover from the damage done to his body by Covid-19, but last week she confirmed he had opened his eyes.
Now, Kate has detailed for the first time how he was when she saw him last week.
Not only that, but she revealed a sweet update from nurses that left her teary on the live show on Tuesday.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Kate detailed some of the battles Derek has faced this week.
It’s then that she welled up as she learned he may have watched her on GMB on Monday, after her return to work.
She confirmed: “It really is good morning to everyone, it really is yeah.
“As you know Derek had a tough week last week, that’s the one thing we’re all having to face.
“He had a tough week, he had two big falls in blood pressure and also swelling in his legs with the concern that it might be clots it was very very emotional.
“He has had clots in his lungs … I suppose the concern would be is if it was new clots forming.”
Kate added: “He’s stable and yesterday I spoke to nurses and they said they have put GMB on and they felt he looked at it, cos his eyes are open he looked focused and engaged.
“I found it very emotional, we don’t know if it was the movement or the light, so good morning Derek if you are watching, we’re all sending you lots of love.”
Kate went on to tell co-host Ben Shephard that she was hoping to visit him again today.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
