Jurgen Klopp reveals when Roberto Firmino injury decision will be made

Liverpool are still sweating on the fitness of Roberto Firmino ahead of their clash with Barcelona at the Nou Camp on Wednesday.

The Brazilian frontman suffered a muscle injury in training last week causing him to miss their 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield last Friday.

Firmino has travelled with the Reds to Barcelona and took part in training on Tuesday as they prepare for their huge Champions League semi-final first leg.

But Klopp confirmed they will make a late decision on whether he is fit to feature in the starting line-up.

“Bobby is here,” Klopp said at his press conference.

“If he is 100 per cent ready then he will maybe play.

“He trained today. We have another session tomorrow and then I’ll make a decision.”

If Firmino is ruled out, it would be a major boost to Barcelona after Ernesto Valverde praised Liverpool’s “extraordinary forwards”.

Firmino is a crucial part of their powerful attacking trio alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

“They are a fearsome rival in many aspects and a very good rival,” Valverde said.

“They are playing for their league title versus Manchester City , we just won our league title last week. We have to play against them and they are very powerful with extraordinary forwards.”

Klopp says Liverpool cannot get caught up on Messi and forget about his team-mates

Liverpool will also have to focus on containing Lionel Messi – but Klopp says they cannot be distracted from the rest of Barcelona’s weapons.

“It’s not only about Messi,” Klopp commented. “They have the highest quality team. They are already champions.

“Messi said before the season he wants to bring back this cup and that sounds like a threat to all of us!

“But we want to go to the final as well.”
