Julian Nagelsmann reportedly has an active interest in Tottenham as a fan, with his camp describing the club as “the perfect match” for the German boss. The news provides Spurs with new hope that they can lure the impressive 33-year-old RB Leipzig manager to north London this summer, as they begin the search for Jose Mourinho’s successor.
Nagelsmann is understood to be amongst the favourites for the job this summer and is a figure Daniel Levy has admired for quite some time following his emergence to the limelight in the Bundesliga.
‘Mini Mourinho’ dumped Spurs out of the Champions League last season before the coronavirus called a halt to football when his side thrashed Tottenham 4-0 (1-0 an 3-0) on aggregate across two legs.
Now there is a feeling that he could part company with Leipzig this summer with Bayern Munich also in the race for his services.
Bayern deem Nagelsmann as the ideal replacement for current manager Hansi Flick, who is set to take over from Joachim Low as Germany boss after the European Championships.

He is not the only option on Tottenham’s radar though, with up to five managers believed to be on Levy’s shortlist.
Brendan Rodgers is another standout candidate although his commitment to Leicester causes complications.
Former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri is still available but having passed on the chance to appoint the Italian after the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino, the avenue is unlikely to be revisited.
Another attractive option for Spurs is Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag, who coincidentally is also being monitored by Bayern.
The Dutchman led Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019 before his side had their hearts broken by Tottenham.
His possession-based, attacking style of football makes him an attractive option for the Tottenham hierarchy.
Finally, Graham Potter is a surprise outsider for the job despite Brighton’s struggles at times this season.
Many feel he has the potential to become a top manager due to his tactical nous.
Nagelsmann though, remains top of Levy’s shortlist with Spurs expected to initiate contact with his representatives at the end of the season.
