Judy Murray still fuming Boris Becker told son Andy to 'ditch' her

Judy Murray says she’s still annoyed with tennis great Boris Becker for saying her son Andy needed to “ditch” her to win a Grand Slam.

And she claims she didn’t leave the house for three days after being left devastated by Becker’s comments.

In 2011, the German ex-player turned TV pundit said he thought Andy would benefit from not having Judy around so much at tournaments.

At the time, Andy had yet to win a Grand Slam title and three-time Wimbledon champion Becker said: “I don’t know why Andy prefers to have Judy close by.

“Is it right for her to be around so much?

“He needs to ditch her.”

Judy, 60, said: “I’m not sure I’ll ever forgive Boris Becker for that.

“That was the worst time for me.

“He has never apologised and I don’t think he would ever understand what he made me feel like.

“Most players have their parents or families with them at the Grand Slams and, actually, I hardly ever went to the tournaments.

“I called Boris out on it a couple of years later after Andy had won Wimbledon.”
