Jorginho insists he should not have received a red card in Chelsea’s dramatic late victory over Arsenal on Sunday.

The Gunners took the lead in the first half through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but Jorginho equalised in the 83rd minute before Tammy Abraham completed Chelsea’s comeback with three minutes remaining.

Arsenal, however, were upset as Jorginho avoided a second yellow card for pulling back Matteo Guendouzi as Mikel Arteta’s side looked to build a quick attack.

Referee Craig Pawson opted to book Alexandre Lacazette for his protests instead, while Jorginho scored Chelsea’s equaliser eight minutes later.

When asked about the incident after the game, Jorginho said: ‘It was not my fault.

‘But in the end we play football not tennis.

‘Contact is normal in football, it was a foul but no more I think.’

Chelsea struggled to trouble Arsenal for the majority of the game and Jorginho admits Frank Lampard’s side drastically needed to change their mentality.

‘I think the first 10 minutes we were too soft, [we needed] to push more,’ said the Italy international.

‘We needed that and I just tried to push my mates and I think we changed the game.’
