John Terry could be offered his first management job by Sheffield United, who have placed the Chelsea legend on their shortlist to be their next full-time boss.

The Blades currently have Paul Heckingbottom as interim manager following the departure of Chris Wilder last month after nearly five years in charge of the club.

The South Yorkshire side look certainties to be relegated to the Championship and are on the lookout for a new manager who can bring them straight back to the Premier League next season.

They see Terry as a contender for the position, according to the Mirror, despite the 40-year-old yet to manage a team.

The former England defender joined Aston Villa as a player in 2017 and has been assistant manager to Dean Smith since 2018, where he has impressed, especially in organising a solid defence at Villa Park.

Terry has always planned to move into full-time management, which the Villains are aware of, and the Blades could be the ideal chance for him as they are likely to be one of the favourites for promotion from the Championship next season.

Terry is far from the only candidate for the role, with Sheffield United looking at a wide range of candidates to lead them next season.

The Sheffield Star reports that they are taking a particular interest in the Belgian league, with board member and FIFA Technical Expert Jan Van Winckel keen to plunder his homeland and both KV Oostende boss Alexander Blessin and OH Leuven manager Marc Brys in contention for the role.

Former Watford and Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic is also on the shortlist, having gained promotion with both those clubs, while Heckingbottom also has the chance to prove his worth as he remains in charge until the end of the season.
