Jodie Whittaker nervous about showing her 'unedited personality' ahead of appearance on The Great Celebrity Bake Off: 'I'm usually given a script and told what to say!'

Jodie Whittaker has revealed she’s nervous about viewers seeing her ‘unedited personality’ ahead of her appearance on Sunday’s The Great Celebrity Bake Off in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.

The former Doctor Who star, 41, will be battling Paloma Faith, Munya Chawawa and Spencer Matthews in the famous tent before their creations are judged by Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith.

But ahead of the episode airing Jodie has admitted her nerves after becoming used to being handed a script and being told what to say.

Telling Radio Times: ‘Apart from interviews, I’ve never done anything where I’m myself on something,’.

‘This is what makes me nervous, that you are yourself with a microphone and cameras on you. I have no control over that edit’.

Then asked if she enjoyed being pushed out of her comfort zone Jodie admitted: ‘Yes, generally. I do really like it, but I would never put myself in a situation that was the celebrity version of something unless it was for charity’.

It comes after judge Prue  broke her silence on rumours she’s quitting The Great British Bake Off

On Wednesday it was revealed the cookery writer and TV star, 84, is ‘taking a break’ from the Channel 4 show after seven years as a judge, with bosses said to have been eyeing up Nigella Lawson to replace her

Yet during an appearance on Thursday’s This Morning, Prue was quick to clear up any confusion, insisting her absence on the show is just temporary.

She told hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley: ‘It’s absolutely not true at all! [that she’s quit the show]. What I’m not doing this year is the celebrity one.

‘These things are filmed back-to-back all the way through summer from April to August so you don’t get any time off. I’m getting quite old and there’s places I want to see. So I’m not doing this year’s.’

Prue previously told MailOnline about the decision: ‘I absolutely love working on Bake Off and am looking forward to filming the next series and meeting our new bakers.

‘I am only stepping back from the Celebrity series, which is just a question of the filming commitment involved as we make these shows back to back.’

She said: 'This is what makes me nervous, that you are yourself with a microphone and cameras on you. I have no control over that edit' (pictured with the rest of 2024's celebs)

A spokesman for Bake Off creator Love Productions said: ‘Prue will be stepping back from The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer.’

‘Prue absolutely loves working on Bake Off but filming two series a year can be punishing on top of her other commitments,’ a source told The Sun.

‘She has already filmed the normal series, which will air this year but she will not appear on the celebrity version.

‘Prue has made it clear she adores the show and would like to come back in 2025. She will turn 85 next year, so it’s not surprising that she wants to take time off.
