JK Rowling, 54, displays a glamorous makeover at her documentary premiere in NYC

JK Rowling, 54, put on a glamorous display in New York City last night.

The Harry Potter author stepped out in style to attend the world premiere on her new HBO documentary.

The writer posed for pictures on the star-studded red carpet to mark the release of Find the Way Home – a documentary which follows the work of her charity Lumos and shines a light on the detriments of living in an orphanage.

Mother-of-three JK -real name Joanne- arrived at the venue in classic black suit teamed with a pair of suede pointy boots.

She wore her normally blonde tresses in loose curls over her shoulders, in a stylish shade of red.

The author continued to display a youthful appearance and enhanced her pretty features with glam make-up comprised of a sweep of black eyeliner and a slick of red lipstick.

Underneath her suit jacket, which was worn undone, she sported a cream satin top and two delicate necklaces.

At the HBO event, the screenwriter was joined by movie star Eddie Redmayne, 37, who plays the lead role of Newt Scamander in her film franchise Fantastic Beasts.

The Oscar-nominated actor looked dapper in an olive green corduroy suit and shiny black shoes for the event.

Eddie’s wife Hannah Bagshawe was also at the world premiere and looked radiant in a blue and white striped dress.

The hour-long documentary shares stories from the families helped by JK’s Lumos Foundation and the social workers and foster parents involved.

The organisation has been working to help children in orphanages across the world for almost 15 years.

According to their website, over 31,500 children have left – or been prevented from entering – harmful institutions and orphanages since 2009.

Finding The Way Home airs on December 18 on American channel HBO.
