JEREMY McConnell has denied “neglecting” his estranged son Caben – but admits his toxic relationship with Stephanie Davis “can’t be fixed”.
The Celebrity Big Brother star is now a doting dad-to-be to a little girl due in July.
But he no longer sees his first child Caben, two, after Jeremy was found guilty of assaulting his then-partner Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Davis in a cocaine-fuelled row.
He’s done everything he can to turn his life around, but insists: “Anyone that has half a brain cell needs to understand the reason I am not part of Caben’s life is because not every situation can be fixed.”
He added: “I protect my son as much as I can. It’s not neglecting, it’s protecting. I’m a very loving father. This is better for Caben.
“My priority is my baby girl because it’s in my control – I have rights over that. My main focus is my girl.
“I can’t speak about it much for legal reasons, but Steph is doing a great job. She’s doing really well and I know she’s a good mum.”
After being sentenced to 20 weeks in prison with a suspended sentence, Jeremy was thrown in jail a few months later after failing to attend community service.
He told The Sun Online he hit rock bottom as he sat in jail on Christmas Day in 2017 – and was forced to face up to reality and get his life back on track.
He’s four stone lighter after quitting fame and his partying lifestyle and has turned his back on drugs for good.
Jeremy found it tough earlier this year when his Hollyoaks actress ex Stephanie moved on with her co-star Owen Warner.
Owen formed a close bond with Caben who Caben started to call “dad” – and Jeremy claimed it was “really distasteful”.
Steph’s relationship ended in September after just nine months.
This week Jeremy was seen shopping for baby clothes with his girlfriend Kate.
The businessman can’t wait to become a dad again and was seen picking out lots of pink items as they browsed around the store.
The couple hosted a gender reveal party in August, and found out they are having a girl.
