Jenny Ryan: The Chase star quizzed about her ‘day job’ away from ITV Vixen role by fan

Jenny Ryan, 37, responded to a Twitter user about her line of work despite being a quizzer on the ITV series, The Chase. The person in question asked The Vixen: “@jenlion hey Jenny so what’s your day job then?” To which she mused, in view of her 49,500 followers: “I often wonder this, myself.” But it wasn’t long before the quizmaster spilled the beans on her co-stars’ “day jobs” prior to working full-time on the hit gameshow.

Jenny spilled: “Mark *was* a teacher; Anne was never a governess, though she did work as a journalist and proof reader; Paul *was* a doctor years ago.

“Shaun is the only one of us to have a ‘day job’ – as a barrister. Paul technically has a ‘night job’ – he’s a comedian.”

She gave the details of her colleagues Mark Labbett, 56, Paul Sinha, 49, Anne Hegerty, 61, and Shaun Wallace’s, 59, careers before becoming ITV quizmasters.

However, the social media user was not completely satisfied with The Chase star’s response as they probed her further.

The person asked: “But if Mark, was a teacher, Anne, a governess, Paul a doctor, Sean a lawyer chap, then what do you do?”

Jenny replied her job has always been a professional quizmaster.

She added: “All five of us are professional quizzers, so I suppose that’s our ‘day job’.”

Jenny is best known for appearing on the ITV programme but prior to this she has made appearances on the BBC show The Weakest Link.

In 2003, she also appeared on the BBC Two show University Challenge.

Jenny made her debut on The Chase in 2015 and has been a firm fixture on the quiz show ever since.

More recently, it has been announced that the small-screen star will be switching gears and making her debut on another show.

The ITV favourite will be joining a host of famous faces in the latest series of Celebrity MasterChef.

She will be appearing alongside celebrities that include TV personality Joey Essex, Strictly Come Dancing performer Oti Mabuse and Olympic gold medallist Greg Rutherford.

The 20 celebrities to feature on the programme will take part in a number of challenges across the six-week series.

They will be competing to win the title of Celebrity MasterChef Champion 2019.

The Chase continues tonight at 5.30pm on ITV.

Celebrity Masterchef returns to BBC One later this year.
