Jennifer Lopez attended the Met Gala on Monday, and her savage one-word response to a red carpet reporter is making the rounds for all the wrong reasons.
JLo, 54, was one of the many guests at the opulent Met Gala on Monday night which made headlines as a salmon farming tycoon stole the show and Kim Kardashian was slammed for wearing a cardigan.
The dress code for the night was The Garden of Time, while the exhibition title for the museum costume exhibition was Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.
This meant there was a lot of room for interpretation when it came to fashion designers creating looks for celebrities to showcase, and a lot of interest in what the A-listers were wearing.
Carefully walking up the Met Gala red carpet stairs in an ornate and heavy-looking silver gown, the Jenny from the Block singer was asked a simple question by Anika Reed, a senior editor at USA Today: ‘Who are you wearing tonight?’
And JLo’s response was simply iconic – in quite possibly the worst way.
Looking irritated by the question, the singer sized up the reporter with a quick up and down glance before uttering, ‘Schiaparelli’.
The Lets Get Loud singer immediately looked away, effectively ending the conversation and moving away from the journalist without a look back or further acknowledgement.
Fans were shocked by this treatment and took to social media to comment with their disgust toward the actress and singer’s attitude.
Meetmelanyy commented: ‘The up & down stare is crazyyyy.’
Nassanga222 added sarcastically: ‘The subtle look up and down was so heartwarming and sincere🥰’
Another commenter chimed in with more sarcasm, Catherin3nicole : ‘Oh isn’t she just such a ray of sunshine! That’s our humble Jenny from the block! 🥰’
The same reporter spoke to Usher and in contrast a video on her page showed how delighted he was to chat with her.
The DJ Got Us Falling in Love singer said, ‘Good to see you baby’ and looked genuinely pleased to give her details about his Alexander McQueen look.
The video only added fuel to the rumours about JLo becoming more and more out of touch in the past few years.
Mcsteffles commented: ‘And in one word, she provided all the evidence we needed.’
‘I really thought people were being a little mean about her..but then I saw this,’ said another commenter, @AmaQuieLi.
The 54-year-old’s recent documentary, This Is Me… Now – a $20million movie about her own love life – went viral early this year as the Maid in Manhattan actress reflected on ‘running up and down the block’ with her hair out as a teenager.
Fans questioned her obsession with the Bronx and strange attempts to appear down-to-earth. JLo is of course a multi-millionaire singer, dancer, actress and director, married to fellow Hollywood success story Ben Affleck.
