Jamie Carragher says ‘massive worry’ for Man Utd means Arsenal more likely to get top four

Manchester United’s lack of goals is a “massive worry” and the reason why they have less of a chance of finishing in the Premier League top four than Arsenal, claims Jamie Carragher.

United and Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw in the league at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have only scored more than one goal in a game once this season – the opening day 4-0 home victory over Chelsea.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in fine goalscoring touch, with the striker notching seven in seven league appearances.

Carragher admits Arsenal’s defence may be weaker than United’s but says their attacking prowess puts them ahead of the Red Devils.

“I think Arsenal have just got the edge because of the goals in the team,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.

“It looks like they are going to concede more goals I think, Arsenal, but in Aubameyang, he’s top class.

“He’s one of the best strikers in the league, he was top scorer last year, you wouldn’t bet against him being the top scorer again.

“They’ve got [Alexandre] Lacazette there as well, there’s just more goals, and that’s a massive worry going forward for Manchester United, that record of not scoring more than one goal in a game.

“I think it was Chelsea, opening day of the season, that’s the only time they’ve scored more than one goal in a game.

“For any team that’s poor but for Manchester United, who have just forever been known as [having] flying wingers, people getting in the box, goals, chaos at times, maybe concede at one end but always a massive goal threat, so that’s a massive worry.

“I don’t really see it changing. Have they actually got the players with the quality that can be more clinical? I don’t think they have.”
