Strap yourselves in, Suicide Squad fans – the full cast has just been released for the sequel and it’s everything we’ve ever wanted and more.

Director James Gunn finally revealed which stars will appear in the upcoming movie, on Twitter on Saturday.

But be warned – the 52-year-old seemed to hint that there might be quite a few deaths in the fictional supervillain team.

‘Don’t get too attached. #TheSuicideSquad,’ James captioned the list.

Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang) and Joel Kinnaman (Rock Flag) are all returning for Suicide Squad 2, as well as previously announced stars John Cena, Nathan Fillion and Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher).

But it’s the new additions that have really got us buzzing.

After months of speculation, it’s been confirmed that Idris Elba has joined the cast alongside fellow newbies Peter Capaldi, Pete Davidson and Taika Waiti.

Luther star Idris will be taking on a new character rather than the role of Deadshot, which was played by Will Smith in the first film.

Meanwhile, Pete Davidson – who’s been romancing a certain Margaret Qualley as of late – will apparently have a ‘small cameo’ which he’ll shoot in between filming for Saturday Night Live.

Storm Reid, Michael Rooker, David Dastmalchian (Polka Dot Man) Alice Braga, Sean Gunn, Flula Borg, Joaquín Cosío, Mayling Ng, Juan Diego Botto, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Julio Ruis and Jennifer Holland complete the stellar line-up.

Stars from the 2016 Suicide Squad who didn’t make the cut include Jared Leto’s Joker, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara’s Katana, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s Killer Croc.

Filming begins in Atlanta on September 23rd and we’re already buzzing to see the stars in action.

The Suicide Squad is set to premiere on August 6, 2021.
