HALIFAX has announced branch closures in a bid to protect staff and customers from coronavirus spreading.
New store times are also in place for the banks that remain open.

Around 200 branches are temporarily closed across Lloyds Banking Group, which includes Halifax, Lloyds Bank and Bank of Scotland, from a network of just over 1,600 branches.
See the full list of Halifax closures in the box below – the bank has temporarily removed its branch locator tool.
As of March 25, branch opening times have also changed to 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday, while they will close at weekends.

The bank added that queues may be longer than usual due to social distancing rules.
And in some cases you might need to wait outside a branch in order to ensure branches aren’t over crowded.
In a statement Halifax said: “Following the government’s confirmation of new measures to tackle coronavirus, our branches and call centres remain open.
“Our branches will open from 10am to 2pm on weekdays, with no weekend openings.
“This temporary change will help us to safeguard essential services across the country, maintain access to cash for our customers, and ensure those who are vulnerable or in financial difficulty can continue to speak to our colleagues.
“We would encourage customers to only visit a branch if it is absolutely necessary.”

It comes as several shops have closed temporarily as they were classed as “non essential”.

Meanwhile post offices are remaining open as they are an “essential service” according to Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
