Inbetweeners' James Buckley boasts show would be 'nothing' without him in rant

The Inbetweeners star James Buckley has boasted that the show would be “nothing without me” as he let rip.

The 32-year-old, who played Jay Cartwright in the BAFTA-winning E4 sitcom, has been busy talking to his fans on the online gaming platform Twitch.

During the coronavirus lockdown, he let rip at his co-stars Simon Bird (Will McKenzie), Joe Thomas (Simon Cooper) and Blake Harrison (Neil Sutherland).

In the live chat with his followers, he boasted: “I am the f*****g Inbetweeners.

“Take a second and try and imagine that TV show without me in it? You can’t, can you?

“People call me Jay. It doesn’t really bother me, it isn’t a billion miles away from my actual name.”

Adding more fuel to the fire, James revealed that he has never ever watched anything that his co-stars have been in since the Inbetweeners.

He said: “I don’t watch Friday Night Dinner, I didn’t watch Fresh Meat. Blake’s got a new show (Kate & Koji) out at the minute on ITV as well, which actually looks really good, it looks really fun.

“But I probably won’t watch it.

“I love those guys and they’re my best friends pretty much.

“But if I sit there and watch Blake in a TV show, I’ll just be going, ‘Oh, there’s Blake’.

“It’s like Simon Bird in Friday Night Dinner or Joe in Fresh Meat or something. I wouldn’t be able to enjoy what I was watching, because I’d just be distracted because there’s some person that I know on the TV. I’m still not used to that.”

Softening the blow, James pointed out how he does adore his co-stars and described them as, “My best friends, pretty much”.

Ouch, he certainly hasn’t held back, has he?
