I’m an England cult hero who played in the World Cup for my country – but now I want to be PRIME MINISTER

MONTY Panesar today demanded a referendum on net zero and called for Ulez to be scrapped as he announced he’s running for parliament.

The ex-England left hand spinner will stand in Ealing Southall as a candidate for George Galloway‘s far-left Workers’ Party of Britain.

In sun soaked Westminster Mr Panesar vowed to crack down on illegal migrants “saturating” resources in poor areas.

And he said one day he’d even like to be prime minister.

But the former cricketer was on a sticky wicket when it came to foreign affairs, a top priority of Mr Galloway’s.

Questions about Gaza and Nato knocked Mr Panesar for six as he confessed “I don’t have knowledge about it”.

He told The Sun: “My focus is on the British people.

“Let George worry about the foreign policy stuff – I’m not an expert on that.

“I want to make a difference to our people in this country.”

Mr Panesar added: ” I want to see a difference in border control.

“I don’t want to see illegal migration going to deprived areas where then the resources get absolutely saturated.”

At a press conference Mr Galloway vowed to pressure Sir Keir Starmer‘s Labour from the left in the way Reform is targeting the Tories on the right.

He claimed his party has 500 candidates ready to take on Labour incumbents, with Deputy Leader Angela Rayner and Shadow Foreign Secretary David Lammy being key targets.

Mr Galloway said: “We are confident that we’re going to be competitive in virtually every race

“And so people will not have to choose between Tweedledee and Tweedledum. They’ll have a genuine choice. And we think that’s our duty to offer that.”

The maverick MP for Rochdale claimed he’s in secret talks with three Labour politicians about possible defections.
