I’m about to be a granny but just gave birth in a campervan, alone, and it was all planned – it was the best experience

A WOMAN who “freebirthed” her son alone in a campervan is now trying to help other mums-to-be “access autonomous birth”.

Chloe has four children, and opened up about her latest little one’s arrival in a Reel on her Instagram page.

The concept of freebirthing is a controversial one, but Chloe insisted even from the first time she was pregnant that she'd be giving birth without any medical help

“I gave birth in a campervan, alone… and it wasn’t by accident,” she wrote over the top of the video.

“I chose absolute freedom and responsibility,” she added in the caption.

“I chose complete connection to my body and my baby.

“And it was awesome!”

She also used the caption to reveal she’s about to become a “step-granny”, adding: “I want to support the younger women in my family in accessing autonomous birth”.

People were quick to praise her for her independent birth in the comments section, with one writing: “HECK YES YOU DID!!!!! This is amazing!”

“What a beautiful thing to do and talk about,” another gushed.

“Yessssss!!!!!” a third said.

But not everyone was a fan of the idea of freebirthing.

“What’s wrong with having a midwife to keep an eye on you?” one wrote.

“It’s also your responsibility to be there for your other children. I’m glad it all went good.”

“They were asleep at the time and my partner was with them,” Chloe replied.

“And nothing wrong with having a midwife but I personally didn’t want anyone I didn’t know coming in to my intimate space.

“Each to their own!”

“Today there was a story in the news about a mother who freebirthed this week,” another added.

“She was not aware she was having twins. Both twins have now died, one still born and one dying shortly after transfer to a hospital.

“Encouraging women to not seek and empower themselves via medical care is so unjust.

“Do better.”

Chloe then hit back: “Babies die in hospitals too.

“I’m not encouraging anyone to freebirth I’m encouraging women to make an informed choice.”

Chloe added in another post on Instagram that she was met with a lot of fear and worry when she announced with her first child that she was planning a freebirth, also known as an unassisted birth.

“I knew I wanted to freebirth my first baby but when I shared this with people during my pregnancy I was met with a lot of concerns – for obvious reasons!” she said.

“But I stayed strong because I knew in my heart that I needed to trust myself and make certain choices that would lead to the best outcome for me and my baby.”

She also insisted she's not deliberately trying to be "radical" with the birthing concept -it's just the way she wants to give birth, on her own terms
