Ignorance is Bliss: Skepta posts new album artwork on Instagram

Skepta announced his forthcoming new album, Ignorance is Bliss, on Instagram yesterday.

The grime artist, who has deleted all pictures from his account apart from those associated with his new album, posted an image of the album artwork and its May 31 release date.

The artwork was shot by artist Manu S. Pillai using a thermal imaging camera. The central image features a man and a baby, which commentators have suggested signifies that the rapper will refer to his new fatherhood on the album. The rapper, who welcomed his first child in January, has remained tight lipped about the sex of the baby and its mother’s identity.

Ignorance is Bliss comes three years after his Mercury Prize winning album Konnichiwa, which featured several collaborators, including Jme, Pharrell Williams and Wiley, who he is now embroiled in a twitter feud with.

Skepta’s Instagram post has been commented on by a slew of illustrious names including Off-White supremo and Louis Vuitton’s artistic director Virgil Abloh, who posted a line of whirlwind emojs; singer-songwriter Dev Hynes, who posted a string of flames; and Lethal Bizzle, who posted a bang emoji.

Ignorance is Bliss features 13 tracks in total and is available to pre-order now.
