I was in a 90s girl band with a Hollyoaks star – now I have a normal job that’s worlds away after quitting fame

ANIKA Bostelaar soared to fame in the 90s band, Girl Thing, but now she runs her own company in the Netherlands after quitting the industry.

Former singer Anika is the go-to woman for babyshowers, bachelorette parties and PR events in Holland, as the owner of Picknick Club.

In a recent Instagram post from her brand account, she looks glowing while posed in front of a gorgeous table set up.

The profile boasts 14.1k followers and appears to have many happy clients.

She’s also a mum to daughters.

Her ordinary life these days, though, is worlds away from her career 30 years ago – where she was rubbing shoulders with an array of big celebs.

Westlife‘s Kian Egan was one of them, as he went on to marry her bandmate Jodi Albert in 2009, who played Debbie Dean on Hollyoaks between 2002 and 2004.

The pair are still together today and even share three children together, 12-year-old Koa, Zekey, nine, and Cobi, six.

Girl Thing, comprised of Michelle Barber, Linzi Martin and Nikki Stuart as well as Anika and Jodi, were set up by Simon Cowell in 1998 after he rejected the Spice Girls.

Their debut single, Last One Standing, only reached number eight on the UK Singles Chart, however.

And the group’s album release was cancelled in the UK after their second single’s disappointing performance.

The self-titled LP hit shop shelves in AustraliaNew ZealandIndia and Japan – but only charted in Down Under, reaching 92.

They soon disbanded in 2001, only to briefly reunite for ITV2‘s The Big Reunion in 2013, performing a one-off concert in 2014.

That year, Linzi auditioned for The X Factor where she came face-to-face with Simon again, but failed to get through to bootcamp.
