I tried Trinny London’s genius 3-in-1 brush (and it’s a makeup bag hero)

PRODUCT

Trinny London T-Kit, £28

THE HYPE:

From the off, Trinny London has set itself apart as the perfect solution for those seeking high-performance, easy-to-apply makeup that works on-the-go. The antidote to overflowing makeup bags, their offering is portable and simple but without ever compromising on function or luxe factor.

First came the makeup stacks (which condensed everything from smoky eyeshadows to statement lipsticks into neat stackable pots), then came the Miracle Blur lip line and filler (which sold out swiftly after launching). As for the latest innovation, it takes up around the same size as a mascara, but instead, it contains not one, but three makeup brushes – pure catnip for aspiring neat-freaks like myself.

BEAUTY BIO:

My goal in life is to be the sort of woman who owns a capsule wardrobe full of classic staples that work with everything, never go out of fashion and never end up in a frantic pile on the floor. I’d like this sort of organisational know-how to extend to my makeup bag, too, where – much as I try – it always ends up overflowing with extra lipsticks, eyeshadows and blushers that I’ve thrown in last minute.

THE REVIEW:

At first glance the T-Kit is exactly what you’d expect from Trinny – slick, compact and unassuming. Is it a chunky eyebrow pencil? Is it a mascara? Nope. Whack off the lid and you have yourself a stack of three precise brushes that unfurl themselves like a Russian doll.

The first is a tapered LIP brush that could double up as a concealer brush if you preferred – it’s ideal for dabbing on product with precision where needed.

The second is the LINE brush, designed to work in conjunction with the Eye2Eye formulas. You can use it to create a relaxed liner (nothing as meticulous as Alexa Chung’s cat flicks, but for a smudgy, insouciant Angelina Jolie wing, it works a treat) or even to draw on your brow pomade.

Last, is the SHADE brush (my personal favourite), which does a smashing job at buffing out a sultry smoky eye. Use it on your socket, lid or lash line to pack on colour and then blend it out. You could even use it to soften out the lines of your concealer or to apply a little highlighter to your brow bone and cupids bow.

THE VERDICT:

This doesn’t nix the need for any other brushes (my cheek brushes still take up the greatest space in my makeup bag), but it definitely streamlined a handful of eye, concealer and buffing brushes into one compact solution. Essentially, it helps to spring clean overflowing makeup bags (yayyy), which makes room for even more lipsticks!*

*Only half kidding.
