THE HYPE
Korean beauty (AKA “K Beauty“) products are some of the most celebrated in the world. The South Korean skincare industry is especially renowned for producing sublime cleansers that should give you the clearest, dewiest skin of your life.
The founder of Tonic 15, Jin Kwon, is my go-to authority on all things K Beauty. She knows her Korean skincare and she says this is her absolute favourite cleanser. She’s always got it in stock – both on her site and in her own bathroom cabinet. Here, she explains to me why it’s so goddamn good.
“This cleanser is made with less than 20 ingredients and doesn’t contain any harsh ingredients that irritate the skin,” she says. “It focuses on plant-derived ingredients, such as skin-hydrating raspberry extract, anti-ageing sage extract and skin-soothing bergamot fruit oil. It’s free from SLS, artificial colorants, artificial fragrance, and other harsh ingredients that can irritate the skin.”
All of that makes this the perfect cleansing foam for sensitive skin, apparently, but really it’s good for any skin type. It’s especially lovely as a second cleanser, or as a staple in your morning skincare regime.

BEAUTY BIO
I’m a pretty basic bitch with high hopes, when it comes to skincare. The only beauty rule I follow obediently is “always take your makeup off”. I spent my teens using Cetaphil as a cleanser and my twenties experimenting with anything that came in a nice bottle. I’ve never fallen in love with a cleanser and I very rarely repeat buy. Usually, I just wash my face with something till the bottle runs out and then move on to the next set of shiny promises, hoping to find something that makes me beautiful. I have fairly sensitive skin and it’s pretty well behaved, most of the time.
THE REVIEW
You’re meant to splash your face with tepid water and then squirt a sensible amount of this dreamy white cleansing foam into your palm. Lather it up in your fingers, put it on your face, cleanse, wash off. You don’t need much each time; a little goes a long way.
The first thing I notice is that this stuff smells heavenly. It’s the single best smelling beauty product I’ve ever used and I want to bathe in it. It’s a woody scent, like you’ve stumbled into a forest. I am immediately obsessed with it, from the first moment I put it on my face. I’m usually a little wary of foaming cleansers because they’ve got a bad rep for drying out your skin, but this one is gentle and tender on my face. It feels mild and kind to my skin. It doesn’t feel tight or tingly after I’ve washed it off. My skin feels soft and clean – and it smells delish.
I tend to use a micellar water to remove all my makeup before I get to this cleanser, and I follow it with the I’m From Rice Toner, also from Tonic 15. I spread some nourishing oil on my face at night afterwards. For the first time, I feel like I have a skincare routine I actually look forward to – but my main obsession is this cleanser. It’s just so lush and sweet and effective.
Plus, did I mention THE SMELL!!!
VERDICT
I’ve spent my entire adult life looking for The One, when it comes to cleansing my face. I think I’ve finally found it. I’ll be getting this again, when the bottle’s empty.
