The mother, who is known online as ‘the midlife mum’ and is from South East London, explained that she’d much rather go on a spa break, but the cheap hotel room was much more affordable at just £39.

So if parenting is stressing you out and you never find time to relax, you’ll want to listen up.

Showing off her hotel stay on Instagram, Alison, who is a freelancer writer, author and host of Not Another Mummy podcast, said: “I don’t know about you but every now and then I need a break from mum life.

“But right now my budget doesn’t stretch to a spa break sadly so I went to the local Travelodge instead.

“Highly recommend it for any frazzled parents who need some alone time!”

As we saw Alison enter her hotel room, she asked her followers: “Would you judge me if I told you I booked into my local Travelodge just to escape my kids for one night?”

We then saw the mother jump onto the hotel bed, as she added: “I mean, I love a spa break, but sadly, can’t afford one.

“So for just £39 I got a peaceful night away to watch Netflix and eat snacks without interruption.”

Alison was clearly having a great time as she applied a face mask, got into her pyjamas and began to read her book.

She then continued: “I took a posh candle, some sleepy tea and a face mask with me to really pamper myself.

I’m child-free by choice and don’t date people with kids – cruel trolls tell me I’ve not got a purpose, but I’m actually winning in life

“It was the perfect way to recharge my batteries.

“What do you think though? Would you try the same?”

The social media video, which was posted under the username @iamalisonperry, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as at the writing of writing, after the clip having been live for just seven hours, it had quickly racked up 1,087 likes.

‘Brilliant idea’

Many parents took to the comments to share their thoughts – as other busy mums admitted that they have thought about doing this before too.

One person said: “No judgement just praise, you absolute legend.

“Tried and tested this and I can confirm I felt 10 times better the day after.”

Another added: “I used to fantasise about doing this all the time when the kids were small!”
