A WOMAN who became a grandmother at the age of 33 looks so youthful that she is constantly mistaken for her daughter’s sister.
Phillipa Nairn, 38, from Cork, Ireland, was just 16 when she gave birth to her daughter Stephanie and 16 years later she welcomed her first grandchild at the age of 33.
Now 22, Stephanie has two children, Caiden, six, and Layla, three, who are often mistaken for Phillipa’s children rather than grandchildren.
Stephanie says she loves having a mum who is so young, and the pair even go out clubbing together.
Speaking to Femail Stephanie said: “I could end up having my mum around for longer than most people! We’ve done a few clubs together and have a lot in common.”
Though she does admit that their youthful looks has caused them to receive unwanted attention from strangers.
She continued: “A lot of the time people assume my kids – her grandchildren – are hers and that we are sisters.
“I’ve had men wolf-whistle at me in the city while pushing a buggy saying, ‘Sexy mummy come here to me.'”
The young mum says her own mum was “elated” when she became a parent at 16.
She told the Irish Mirror: “My mother loves being a granny, my son is with her more than he is with me, he loves my mother and they are so close.
“They have a special bond. He changed her life in ways, for the better.”
Stephanie, who wasn’t in a relationship when she fell pregnant, is eager to break the stigma of young mums.
She joked: “I will be sitting on a beach sipping a Pina Colada when my friends are having kids.”
She has set up an Instagram account dedicated to motherhood and mental health, you can follow her at stephs_crazy_world.
