Honest mum lists the ‘c**p’ gifts people dish out for Mother’s Day, and it’s bad news if you’ve bought yours a candle

A MUM has sparked controversy with her “brutally honest” list of “c**p” she doesn’t want for Mother’s Day.

Andrea took to TikTok to share photos of the offending gifts, ahead of the occasion this Sunday.

She kicked off with “any sort of soft toy”.

“I’m a grown adult and I will end up donating it to the charity shop at some point down the line,” she added.

Next up, keyrings or little tokens with ‘Best Mum’ or similar slogans on them.

“S**t like this – yes it’s cheap to buy, but it’s cheap for a reason,” she sighed.

Mugs are also on the banned list, as Andrea explained: “I love a cup as much as the next person.

“But once you’ve got one ‘Mum’ mug, you’ve already got enough!”

And she concluded the rundown with “the staple candle”.

“May as well use it to set the ‘I heart mum’ teddy on fire,” she joked.

Sharing the post on TikTok, Andrea wrote: “Someone had to say it.

“And if you’re looking at this and thinking this is literally EVERYTHING I’ve got for the wonderful mother in mine or my children’s lives- I hope you’ve kept the receipt.”

The comments section was quickly filled with people weighing in on Andrea’s assessment, with one writing: “I love all these things!”

“And there’s nothing wrong with that,” Andrea replied.

“I have a mum cup which I love- but I don’t need one every year. I just want to do things together.

“And have a little help.”

“I’ve already told mine no flowers chocolate or mugs,” another added.

“Totally agree … I’ve told my husband I don’t want any bought TAT!!!” a third commented.

“I want sleep then to wake up to a clean house and fed child and then out for a restaurant meal I don’t cook,” someone else added.

“It’s literally that simple!”

As Andrea responded: “Yes yes yes again. This is exactly my point.

“No gifts needed at all. Just thought.”

“I’ve told my hubby no cards, even from the kids,” another wrote.

“I just want a clean house and eat junk…alllll day and to be left alone.”

“Question, if you could pick mum gifts that are not the usual toot what would you pick?” someone else asked.

With Andrea replying: “Ooh this is a great question. I’m really not a big gift person.

“I’m the same and birthdays and Christmas I genuinely want nothing.

“But if I had to have something, then I’d say sentimental or a family adventure together.”

However, Andrea’s post sparked anger in some other people, who insisted she should be grateful to get anything.

“I cannot believe these comments. Gross, materialistic, entitled,” one wrote.

“Ok how about be thankful for anything u get as some woman will never get these things that represent mothers day,” another added.

To which Andrea replied: “I am grateful. I was grateful for the first 10 teddies and mugs I’ve gotten.

“But enough is enough.

“Mother’s day shouldn’t be about things. It about the people, the time, showing love.

“My opinion”.

“I would absolutely love this ‘crap’ – ungrateful mare,” someone else raged.

“This is horrible,” another insisted.

“Imagine being so superficial and not being happy your child has tried to get something special for you.

“It’s supposed to be the thought.”
