BRITAIN will introduce “vindaloo visas” to save the nation’s curry houses, the Home Secretary will announce today.

It comes amid fears Britain’s favourite takeaway is at risk of extinction as specialist cooks cannot get the clearance to move to the country.

Ms Patel last night said: “Before we introduce the new points-based immigration system post-Brexit, we are changing the rules to make it easier for restaurants to get the highly skilled chefs they need.

“The UK has one of the best food scenes in the world and these changes will make it even better.”

Curry houses are closing at a rate of two a week, research shows.

The industry has begged ministers for more help for years, warning a shortage of chefs will see more close their doors.

Previously, takeaway restaurants could not recruit specialist chefs from abroad.

The Home Secretary will lift restrictions so they can look to India and other countries.

The Home Office said the move will be a huge boost to all takeaway eateries, not just curry houses.

She has also ruled that any new recruits moving to Britain do not have to meet the £35,800 earning threshold that other workers do.
