Harry Redknapp reveals most important thing he forgot when being a football manager

Harry Redknapp says he finally found happiness on I’m a Celeb… after life as a top football manager turned him into a “miserable rotter”.

Harry, 72, who was crowned King of the Jungle on last year’s show, admits he struggled to sleep after games when boss of Spurs – even if they had won.

“You become a miserable rotter when you become a football manager, you forget how to laugh,” he says. “When you got beat it was like a death in the family. I couldn’t face talking to anybody.

“Saturday night I didn’t sleep a wink – I’d be buzzing when we won and when we lost I’d be fighting with the pillow all night.”

On I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! he revealed his favourite things in life include wife Sandra – and jam roly-poly desserts. He said: “I learned to laugh again. I really enjoyed it.”

Harry will attend camp-mate Fleur East’s wedding to her long-term partner next week.

Despite recently feeling he has learned how to laugh again, he has been dealing with some tough times recently after revealing his worries for wife Sandra, as she has specialist treatment after ‘not feeling very well’.

He revealed his despair as his beloved wife of 51 years has fallen ill, months after she battled sepsis last year.

Harry on the touchline as Spurs manager

A clearly moved Redknapp opened up at an AOL Build, saying: “She hasn’t been particularly well.

“We have been to a specialist in London. I have rung her 8 times today just to see how she is.”

Harry almost cancelled his appearance in the Australian jungle last December, as Sandra suffered from sepsis but she managed to feel better enough for him to feel happy to fly Down Under.

Sandra then joined the families of the other camp mates, after feeling well enough to fly, and saw Harry get crowned after winning the ITV show.
