Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler is in hospital after police were called to his home over claims ‘someone had stabbed themselves’.

TMZ reports that Steven is now being treated for ‘non-life threatening’ stab wounds to his stomach.

Authorities told the publication that no-one else was involved.

Representatives for Steven Adler and Guns N’ Roses have been contacted by Metro.co.uk for comment.

The famous drummer performed four nights ago in Biloxi, Mississippi and before that, with his new outfit Adler’s Appetite, at Warehouse Live in Houston, Texas last Thursday night.

He is due back onstage at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas on July 12.

The artist is obviously best known as the former drummer and co-songwriter of Guns N’ Roses, with whom he achieved worldwide success in the late 1980s.

He was dismissed from the band in 1990, which his bandmates blamed on his drug use.

Steven has been candid about his battle to rehabilitate after the departure, admitting in a 2011 interview with Rukus magazine that he had tried to commit suicide twice.

‘I was very miserable. Everything I’d worked my whole life for had been taken away from me. And it was the people I’d worked with that had turned on me. I didn’t know what to do.

‘From having hundreds of friends, to getting kicked out of the band by my best friend-and a guy who I was doing the drugs with! – it left me with no-one to turn to.

‘I was very sad and lonely. My wife left me, and I didn’t blame her. It’s hard to watch someone you love trying to kill themselves. That’s what I was doing.’

Six years after the band dropped him, Steven had a heart attack and two strokes from a cocktail of heroin and cocaine he used intravenously.

That year he began drugs counselling and went public with his recovery 10 years later, in the fifth season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.
