Greg Wood: Coronation Street’s Rick Neelan star warns fans ‘You better be ready’

Ahead of this week’s string of post-watershed episodes of Coronation Street, Rick Neelan star Greg Wood, 39, told fans they’d need to be prepared for the shocking drama to come. On Saturday, he teased his 104,000 Twitter followers: “Hello good people, if you can try and catch @itvcorrie next week at the later time of 9pm. When the ‘ship’ goes down… you better be ready!” he quipped, adding cheekily: “Obvs the non radio edit is better.”(sic)

Greg’s character Rick caught Gary Windass (played by Mikey North) and had him bound and gagged in last night’s dramatic first instalment of the week of 9pm episodes, delivering on his promise of some big things going down.

Fans flocked to the comments section on Twitter to share their excitement for the upcoming developments, with one saying: “I’m so looking forward to next week’s eps! Can’t wait to see what Rick gets up to.

“You play such a brilliant villain,”(sic) they added.

“I’ll be watching pal,” another replied, while a third chimed in: “Can’t wait.”

In tonight’s post-watershed instalment of Coronation Street, Gary will come round tied to the radiator in Rick’s office.

The loan shark then accuses Gary of getting Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) to break into his office and steal his stash of passports.

However, spoiler pictures indicate Gary managed to survive the beating he faces at the hands of Rick.

In official snaps, he can be seen trying to patch things up with Sarah, but what does this mean for Rick?

Before playing the cobbles’ current bad guy, Greg appeared in several other soaps.

His first big role came in Brookside in 2002 but is best known for playing villain Trevor Royle in Hollyoaks from 2013 until 2016.

Meanwhile, Rick first arrived in Coronation Street in 2009 and later left in 2012 when he was taken away to prison.

He one again returned to the cobbles earlier this year.

Elsewhere on tonight’s Corrie, Gail Platt (Helen Worth) thinks she recognises Natalie Watkins (Cassie Bradley) as the person who stole Audrey Roberts’ (Sue Nicholls) money.

After she tells Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), he goes to David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) to try to keep his dark secret under wraps.

However, in a climactic scene, David decides to tell Audrey the truth about Nick stealing from her and, right at the moment he reveals what happened, Nick approaches the pair.

What will Audrey do when she finds out?

Coronation Street continued tonight at 9pm on ITV.
