Green Man Gaming announces first console release

Green Man Gaming has signed its first ever console release. The new partnership will see the company work with Devs Must Die to bring student project Skybolt Zack to Nintendo Switch as well as PC, via Steam, later this year.

Skybolt Zack “is a marriage of 2D platforming, vibrant anime art styles and the flow of rhythm gaming” originally designed as a final year student project at ISART Digital Paris, the Parisian video game school.

“It has long been an ambition for Green Man Gaming to expand our horizons and extend our reach beyond PC gaming,” said David Clark, managing director of Green Man Gaming Publishing. “When we first saw Skybolt Zack it was almost immediately apparent that this was the game for us to make that jump! The work that Devs Must Die have done with Skybolt Zack in a relatively short time have impressed us tremendously.

“They are incorporating options for players which we’re not seeing in products from much larger, long-standing studios and we can’t wait to show more to the community at various events across the summer.”

“2019 will see us become increasingly bolder with the partnerships we enter into and the platforms we publish on – including console,” Clark told MCV back in December 2018, reflecting on the upcoming year for GMG. “We will have a strong focus on investing further in the publishing arm of the business which will see us become more aggressive in the market.

“What truly makes us unique in the market is our ability to offer industry expertise and insight by leveraging Green Man Gaming’s store and community data as well as marketing and trading experience,” Clark added. “Green Man Gaming Publishing can draw on eight years of retail data – we know what has sold, how many copies have sold, what price it has sold for and where in the world it has sold.”
