GLAMOUR Tries: We put siren lips vs. doe lips to the test, here's how it went

There’s no better pastime than testing out the coolest new skincare/makeup/hair trends and snazzy innovations in beauty tech from the comfort of your own home. That said, there’s nothing more frustrating than spending upwards of £100 on a new at-home facial system or snazzy pair of hair straighteners, only to find out they don’t *actually* work.

Enter: GLAMOUR Tries, the weekly Instagram series which sees GLAMOUR editors do all of the time-consuming (and expensive) work for you.

Yep, we’ve been busy trying out all of the wacky and wonderful beauty crazes to take the internet (read: TikTok) by storm – from the YSL lipstick printer to Il Makiage’s iconic foundation and even the viral Hair Bedazzler tool from Amazon. These are the products every influencer/Gen-Z beauty sleuth/beauty editor is talking about on the internet – but that you want to be sure about before parting with your money.

Thanks to GLAMOUR Tries, you won’t need to waste your hard-earned pennies on testing these innovations yourself. We’re getting in their first, giving you the lowdown and making sure you invest in products that genuinely work.

And this week, Beauty Writer Sheilla Mamona is trying out the new siren lips vs. doe lips trend which has recently taken off on TikTok and Instagram. Siren lips sees beauty influencers and makeup artists using the same techniques as siren eyes (i.e. sharp edges and lifting accents), while doe lips concentrates on a softer, more innocent-looking pout.

To create the two looks, Shei is using Victoria Beckham Beauty’s Lip Definer, the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Heat Lip Luminizer and Plumper, REFY’s Lip Gloss and a black eyeshadow from MAC.

“As you may know, siren eyes and doe eyes are everywhere on the internet so I thought I’d try out the lip version of it. I thought it was pretty cool, so I’m going to show you how I did it,” says Shei.

“First things first, everything about the siren eyes is sharp, so your lips have got to be sharp too,” she says, lining her lips with the pencil and accentuating the outer corners. “I’m going to add a sprinkle of red in the middle to make it more vampy, and I’m actually going to use eyeshadow for the corners to look extra dark. Bam. Yes!”

“Doe lips are so much more simple; you literally round off your cupids bow and bottom lip, don’t line at the edges, add a little bit of gloss – yes Fenty – and done. Look at her, look how cute she is!” Shei says finally.
