Get cinema tickets for under £2.50 each with this new Tesco deal

You can have a night at the cinema for just £2.48 – and you all you need to do is buy a bag of sweets.

Sweet maker Mars has brought back its Sweet Sundays offer where you can claim free tickets if you buy at least two of its products.

If you collect packs of Skittles and other Mars sweets, you can pick up cinema tickets for under £2.50 to use at these participating cinemas
If you collect packs of Skittles and other Mars sweets, you can pick up cinema tickets for under £2.50 to use at these participating cinemas

To claim a free ticket, you need to collect ten “stars” from packets of sweets included in the deal.

Promotional packs will include bags of Maltesers, M&Ms, Minstrels, Skittles and Starburst.

Family-size and “more to share” pouches are worth five stars each, so you’ll need to buy two to earn enough for a ticket.

Prices for the promotional packs vary so we’ve worked out which sweets you should buy to bag a cinema ticket for the cheapest price.

Some packs included in the deal cost £2.50 each, but large packs of Skittles and Starbursts are only £1.24 each at Tesco.

That means you could earn ten stars by spending just £2.48 on two bags.

If you want two tickets, you’d have to buy four of the bags, costing £4.96.

The bags are currently on offer for £1 on Tesco’s website until May 14, but there’s no guarantee a promotional pack will be delivered.

But if you’re lucky and get sent one, you could bag a free cinema ticket for just £2.

There’s another way of earning stars.

You can also buy five smaller standard pouches of the promotional sweets, which are worth two stars each – but that will generally be more expensive than buying two larger bags.

But like with any deal, there are some terms and conditions that come with the giveaway, which we’ve detailed below.

The promotion doesn’t officially start until May 22 – but packs of sweets included in the deal have already started appearing on the shelves at Tesco.

We’ve asked Mars if the deal will be on at other supermarkets and we will update this article if we hear back.

The official Sweet Sundays website says the promotion is “coming soon”.

Terms and conditions

THERE are always rules to abide by with any kind of deal.

As the name of the promotion suggests, the free cinema tickets can only be used on a Sunday.

And unfortunately, you can only claim two free cinema tickets at a time per person.

You can use them at any cinema in the groups taking part, which are: Cineworld, Picturehouse, IMAX Playhouse, Empire, Showcase, Reel Cinemas, WTW, The Grosvenor, Savoy Cinemas, Merlin Cinemas, Scott Cinemas and Movie House Cinemas.

Cineworld’s Leicester Square, The Screening Rooms in Cheltenham, the Cineworld IMAX Glasgow Science Centre and WTW’s The Regal Cinema in Wadebridge won’t accept the free tickets.

The tickets are for 2D screenings only.

You can use them for 3D and IMAX screenings – but you will need to pay more to upgrade your ticket.

The deal will run from May 22 until August 7, and you can claim your tickets until August 25.

But a notice reads: “Thank you for purchasing one of our promotional packs.

“Some of our Skittles and Starburst Sweet Sundays promotional packs have appeared in stores before our website is up and running.

“You will still be able to redeem your code from those packs once the promotion opens on the 22nd May 2019, so for now, enjoy our delicious products and save the packaging.”

That means you can still buy the sweets now – but you won’t be able to claim your free tickets until at least May 22.

Once the website is live, you can claim your cinema ticket by visiting the website and following the steps.

You’ll need to make an online account and enter the promotional code on the packaging.

You’ll then be emailed an e-ticket code, which you have to present to the cinema’s box office staff.

In other deal news, Tesco has slashed the price of Easter eggs today and you can get some chocolate for just 25p.

Lindt is also having a 50 per cent off clearance sale on its Easter eggs.

And Asda and Tesco have launched a massive sale on baby items – including packs of Pampers for £4 each.
