Gemma Atkinson, 35, is known for being an advocate of animal rights and took to Twitter to vent her frustrations after she shared a clip from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The organisation posted a video of an elephant who could be seen lying on its side in water.
In view of her 275,000 followers, Gemma retweeted a post from the animal rights organisation which read: “This is Myan Prince, an elephant held captive at a Buddhist Temple in Sri Lanka. He spends his life in chains, tied to a tree. And this is him being beaten.
“NOT OK. Elephants belong with their families in their natural homes – he should be free.”
Gemma wrote in response to the tweet: “What the f**k is wrong with people?” followed by angry-faced emojis.
Fans flocked to the comment section of her post to share their thoughts on the horrific video footage.

Explaining more, Wes added: “So basically, if you haven’t taken your Christmas tree down, then you keep it up for Valentine’s and decorate it with pink and red baubles.”
He then turned to Gemma to ask her for her thoughts.
Not holding back, she chimed: “I think that’s ridiculous! I think that’s a lazy excuse for not taking your tree down.
“Because, what’s next after that, an easter tree? Do you know what I mean?
“‘I’ve kept it up until February, I might as well keep it up until Easter’.”
Wes replied: “It’s trending today, so people are obviously doing it.”
But refusing to adapt to the thought, the mother-of-one added: “I don’t believe people have still got their tree up.”
In January last year, Gemma and Gorka announced they are expecting their first baby together.
Back in July, the radio star gave birth to their daughter Mia.
