Freddie Starr dead: ‘RIP to my childhood comedian’ Tributes pour in for the star, 76


Beloved comedian Freddie Starr has been reportedly found dead in his Spanish home, at the age of 76. 

Taking to Twitter, fellow industry stars and fans have shared their tributes to the favourite.

Actor Neil Hurst posted: “Sad news. Worked with #FreddieStarr a couple of times and although he was absolute madness both onstage and off you couldn’t knock the fact that he was an amazing comedian and show man. He’ll be sadly missed.

“Had the pleasure of meeting Freddie Starr at a charity do once. He was surprisingly down to earth, and VERY funny,” Scottish star Limmy shared.

Bobby Davro shared: “I’ve just heard that Freddie Starr has died. He was the funniest man I have ever seen. I’m so sad we have lost one of our greatest comedy talents. RIP Freddie.”

“#freddiestarr RIP To my childhood comedian, Freddie Star. Thank you for the memories and may you rest in peace. @FreddieStarr.”

“Very Sad thanks for the memories and Laughs #freddiestarr,” another fan wrote.

A third shared: “Rest in peace #FreddieStarr.”

While a fourth noted: “Gutted about #Freddiestarr . Such sad news. I grew up with his comedy and we should all remember what a funny man he was. RIP you comedy legend.”

“So sad, a great comedian. Loved watching him on TV R.I.P #FreddieStarr,” a fifth added.

A sixth shared: “R.I.P Freddie Starr I remember laughing to his acts. So hard my ribs hurt. #freddiestarr.”

Fans of the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! favourite continued to pay their respects.

One person lamented: “Another one of our funniest legends taken away from us. Rest in peace Freddie Starr…. Lots of laugh out loud moments over the years of which I shall treasure including his brilliant Mick Jagger impersonation.”

“Sad end for a once much loved talented entertainer… #FreddieStarr,” another commented.

A third sad fan noted: “R.I.P #FreddieStarr another childhood memory gone.”

While a fourth said: “RIP #FreddieStarr what a laugh a great comedian he was. He will be sorely missed #rip #FreddieStar #FreddieStarr.”

A fifth shared the tribute: “I think it would be fair to say #FreddieStarr had a colourful life. He made me laugh and was a great comedian during my youth. RIP funny man. Make a better job of it next time.”

 

The Sun’s report said Freddie was found on the floor of his Costa Del Sol apartment by a carer.

A neighbour, who asked not to be named, has also told The Mirror: “His carer found him dead in his chair around 3.30pm.

“His next door neighbour who is a nurse said he was definitely dead.”

Another source told the publication: “He’s been quite ill ever since he moved in and has barely left his apartment since moving in a couple of years ago.

“He would just sit indoors all day long and he never had any visitors. It’s so tragic.”
