Five last minute transfers Man Utd chief Ed Woodward could seal before deadline day

With Friday’s transfer deadline quickly approaching, Manchester United are in desperate need of reinforcements. The club were hopeful of bringing in two midfielders and a striker but there has been little movement throughout the course of this month. Express Sport takes a look at some of the players United could target before the window slams shut.

Bruno Fernandes

It’s a name that refuses to go away and while the deal remains unlikely at this point, anything is still possible.

Manchester United believe he’d cost £42million but Sporting shifted the goalposts to around £60m.

The Old Trafford hierarchy are not prepared to pay that much for the midfielder.

Negotiations are at an impasse, and could be revisited this summer if nothing materialises this month.

He is the player United fans want most and his arrival would lift a deflated fanbase for the second half of the campaign.

Odion Ighalo

A link which is a bolt from the blue, but nonetheless Ighalo is a natural goalscorer who could prove a handy option from the bench.

He is best known for his spell at Watford in which he helped fire the club to the Premier League, where he scored a number of goals before moving to China.

United are said to be lining up a shock temporary deal which can help plug a hole left in their attack by injury to Marcus Rashford.

Any deal is likely to be a loan, Ighalo currently plays for Shanghai Shenhua.

Islam Slimani

The Algerian reportedly wants out of Monaco so he can return to the Premier League and finally prove himself.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has already admitted it’s a complexed situation to untangle.

The player is also attracting interest from Aston Villa and Tottenham.

United are in need of a target man who can play with his back to goal and Slimani can do just that.

The 31-year-old has seven goals in 13 matches this season in Ligue 1.

Marcos Llorente

United boss Solskjaer is keen on bringing in a midfielder on loan before the deadline.

Marcos Llorente is one name who is being eyed due to his lack of game time at Atletico Madrid.

The Spaniard signed from rivals Real Madrid last summer, after impressing at Real Sociedad on loan.

Llorente is a box-to-box midfielder who is an upgrade on some of their current options currently enjoying minutes.

Matias Vecino

As mentioned with Llorente, United are eyeing short-term options particularly in midfield.

The problem for United with Vecino, is that other clubs are already negotiating.

One of those is Everton, who are keen on a permanent deal this month.

Inter also want to sign Allan from Napoli and it’s regarded that Vecino could be included in a swap deal.
