First 'Stranger Things' video game to be released alongside season 3

It follows a previously released mobile-only game

The first ever Stranger Things video game is due to be released alongside season 3 of the hit show, it has been announced.

The Netflix sci-fi horror was previously transformed into a mobile-only game based around season 2, but Stranger Things 3: The Game marks the first time fans will be able to play as the residents of Hawkins, Indiana on their consoles.

The game will feature 12 different playable characters, each with their own set of Demorgon-beating skills. Like the previous mobile game, it will be in 16-bit animation but utilise current technology in the gameplay. Users will also be able to team up and play together. You can watch a trailer for it below.

Stranger Things 3: The Game will be released on July 4 and will be available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

The first full trailer for Stranger Things 3 was released last week (March 20). It teased some new locations for the series, including Starcourt Mall. The new season will also be released on July 4.

Meanwhile, a series of prequel books began to be published earlier this year. One covering the story of Eleven’s mother, Terri, was released in February, and another detailing the past of one of Stranger Things’ newest characters, Max Mayfield, is due in June.

They follow the release of an official behind-the-scenes companion and a hardcover gift book for younger readers.
