First Once Upon A Time In Hollywood trailer lands

It’s been four years since Quentin Tarantino last graced the big screen with The Hateful Eight. This summer, he’s making a star-studded return with his ninth film, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood – and the first trailer is here…

Set in late-’60s Los Angeles, the film tells the story of TV Western actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) as they try to make it in the film industry. The trailer doesn’t give away much more than that, but it does tease a movie dripping with Hollywood nostalgia and period style.

You can watch the trailer below…

Described as a “character comedy/drama”, the film features a big-name ensemble cast. Alongside DiCaprio and Pitt, both of whom have worked with Tarantino before (in Django Unchained and Inglourious Basterds respectively), the film features Al Pacino as Dalton’s agent, Margot Robbie as actress Sharon Tate and Damian Lewis as Steve McQueen. It will also mark the last big-screen appearance for Luke Perry, who sadly passed away earlier this month.

The trailer also showcases Mike Moh’s portrayal of martial arts legend Bruce Lee (“My hands are registered as lethal weapons…”) and gives us a brief glimpse at Aussie actor Damon Herriman as Charles Manson, the infamous cult leader whose “family” carried out a spate of murders around the time – including that of Tate.

Tarantino apparently worked on the script for five years, which he says tells the story of “an LA and a Hollywood that don’t exist anymore.” The film is rumoured to be making its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May, a few months ahead of its release.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood opens in UK cinemas on 14 August 2019.
