First Fast & Furious 9 Cast Photo Celebrates Michelle Rodriguez's Birthday

Nathalie Emmanuel has shared the first Fast & Furious 9 cast photo. The actress posted the picture on social media in honor of her co-star Michelle Rodriguez’s birthday, which is today, July 12th. Production has just started on the highly anticipated sequel and fans are eager to see how they pull this off without Dwayne Johnson on board. With that being said, the cast looks like they are ready to deliver the goods to the fans from all over the world.

Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel), Letty Ortiz (Rodriguez), Mia (Jordana Brewster), Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel), Tej Parker (Ludacris), and Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson), are featured in the new Fast & Furious 9 cast photo. New characters played by John Cena and Anna Sawai are also pictured with director Justin Lin. Michelle Rodriguez and crew are also shown in a video that she posted. She had this to say in the caption.

“We started by repping the derelicts, rebels, cats on the other side of the tracks. 18 years strong Fast & Furious saga continues its message of inclusion, with the guilty pleasure of action movie fun. Through all the years friendships, hardships, & loss. I see these young new faces & welcome a new generation to a platform sturdy, strong, & inclusive, ready to entertain a multicultural with more action packed rides, incredulous stories, & popcorn fun, for the decades to come. Grateful.”

Justin Lin is back in the director’s chair for Fast & Furious 9 for the first time since the sixth installment. Lin was on board for the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth installments and helped steer the franchise to its greatest heights. As for what the story will revolve around this time, that is not clear, but one can bet on seeing some fast cars and a lot of action. The formula seems to be pretty bullet-proof at this point in time.

On the opposite side of the tracks is the Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, which hits theaters next month. Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham have defected from the main group to do their own thing. The movie originally started some strife within the family, but that all seems to be in the past now. Fans are also probably wondering how Johnson and Statham will be able to perform without the rest of the Fast family.

For now, it looks like Hobbs & Shaw will debut with around $60 million at the box office, which isn’t record breaking. However, estimates have the action movie making more money in the long run, once positive word of mouth hopefully begins to spread. It has the recipe for a late summer hit, but the box office has been a little slow this season, despite some pretty big movies hitting theaters.
