Ewan McGregor has admitted that he is ‘happier’ in his relationship with Mary Elizabeth Winstead, following his divorce from ex-wife Eve Mavrakis.

The actor had been married to Eve for 22 years before it came to an end in 2018, and since started a relationship with his Fargo co-star.

And now he has admitted that he is ‘better’ in his new relationship, following on from his split.

Speaking to Men’s Journal, he alluded to the passing of time as he said: ‘Lighter? Today? As opposed to then?

‘I am better. I am happier. I think that’s true.’

Ewan and Eve had got married back in 1995, after they first met on the set of Kavanagh GC, with the pair sharing four children together, including one adopted from Mongolia.

However, in January 2018, Ewan filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, and he soon began dating Mary, 33, shortly after.

Following their divorce, Ewan and Eve’s daughter, 22-year-old Clara, hit back at Ewan for his newfound romance with Mary, calling her a ‘piece of trash’.

However, Clara later admitted she regretted making the comment.

‘There had been a lot building up to it and a lot to deal with, not to make excuses or anything, but yeah, it wasn’t my finest moment,’ she told The Times.

‘But I’m not afraid to speak out if I feel strongly about something.’

She later added that their relationship is ‘not going to end because of this’, and that she will ‘always’ love her father.

Eve also faced criticism after seemingly calling her dad an ‘a**hole’ after she shared an Instagram post of her mother in a bikini.

However she later denied this, stating on her Instagram story: ‘Let’s make one thing clear. I was not attacking my dad or calling him [an] a**hole.

‘I was simply saying she deserves someone who isn’t one. Don’t believe everything you read (sic).’
